New Supplier Forms
The Farmed Mammal Supplier Statement has been revoked and replaced by the Animal Supplier Declaration (ASD), the same form required for human consumption. Old forms may be used until 30 September, after which the ASD becomes compulsory.

The Association has produced a double-sided form (available on the website) that combines the ASD and the Ante-Mortem (AM) declaration. This version may be used for on-farm slaughter only. Where a NAIT transaction is involved, the ASD must be completed in full and a separate Ante-Mortem form provided.

Both the ASD and the double-sided form are available on the Association’s website.

Raw Pet Food Microbiology
MPI’s Science Team has released a technical paper: Microbiology and Suitability of Raw Meat Petfood. The report reviews New Zealand and international studies on the microbiology of raw petfood and the risks these products present.

The summary notes:

“NZ Food Safety will consider a microbiology survey of raw meat petfood… Results will help inform whether further action is required to manage any identified risk.”

Primary processors and raw meat secondary processors are encouraged to read this report, which is available on MPI’s website - view here.
